Alternative Technical Services was founded in 1985 by master technician Andrew Brooks as a business equipment sales and service company located in Southern California which was sold in 2005. Andrew Brooks holds over 60 combined OEM technical certifications from manufacturers such as Sharp, Canon, Brother, Toshiba, Konica, Hewlett Packard, Panasonic, and others. Andrew is a past president of the Southern California Business Technology Association (SC-BTA), a former board member of the National BTA, and a former contributing editor of the Equipment Network Exchange (ENX) Magazine. In 1987, Andrew founded ATS Specialty Products in order to develop and market specialized service tools and products to the business equipment industry and is now located in the Asheville area of Western North Carolina. In 1988, as copiers began to utilize more plastic to metal part configurations, Andrew envisioned the need for a specialized instant bonding product for use in the repair of copiers that would allow a field technician the ability to quickly repair broken parts in a quality manner and get equipment working during the first response. As such Andrew began experimenting with different bonding agents and after 3 years of R&D, Insta-Plastik was created and the rest is history.
